About
Hello, you’ve found James Northard! I’m a web designer & developer based out of Indianapolis, IN. In the web world, I am the:
- Operations Manager at NAMIC Web Services
- President & CEO of Bundle of FAQ’s
- Co-Founder & Director of Development for Grab A Chat, LLC
- Founder of Last Night’s Quote

This is me and my lovely girlfriend Amy taking a helicopter tour over Chicago.
I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Pamela, a stay-at-home mom, and James F. (Jr.), owner of Master Mechanical HVAC Company. I have one sister, Jessica, who currently teaches English and ENL at the high school level.
I have always had a passion for design, but it was not until high school where I was first introduced to integrating the design into web. My curiosity in technology quickly helped me bridge the gap between the web and traditional art. While attending high school, I took multiple classes at a local university to expand my knowledge of the web and the opportunities it was able to open for me. Upon graduation from high school (May 2005), I was accepted to Purdue University’s School of Technology where I went on to study Computer Graphics Technology. In my second year at Purdue, I was offered the opportunity to work as the Web Design Specialist for the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC). In my third year at Purdue, I graduated with my Bachelors Degree (May 2008) and immediately accepted a full time position at NAMIC.
Education
I am currently in the process of pursuing a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Indiana Wesleyan University. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Graphics Technology from Purdue University.
Experience
The majority of my time is spent with XHTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery), PHP, MySQL, ASP.NET and SQL. I have worked on hundreds of websites, from personal & small business websites all the way to Ecommerce websites. I have experience in every facet of the web process, including setup of domains, DNS, installing server software & host management.
I am a member of the following communities:
Spare time?
I am an entrepreneur at heart, so the majority of my “free time” is spent networking with others in my field, building ideas and starting new projects. I am most recently part of the team that won the Indianapolis Startup Weekend challenge. Startup Weekend recruits a highly motivated group of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more to a 54 hour event that builds communities, companies and projects.
When I’m not on the computer you can find me spending time with friends and family. I’m a avid sports fan, so you can often find me in a sports arena on the weekends. Although we do not play at a professional level, I’m also on a co-ed softball team with friends.
Available for work?
Absolutely! I am currently employed full-time, but I would love to hear about your projects! I am always available for freelance consulting or design & development work.
